JUST… SEW… The Syracuse Justice Center Sewing Project
The Justice Center Sewing Project: JUST…SEW… offers a safe creative environment for women inmates to learn how to sew and quilt. Through this creative process, volunteers help the students learn patience, perseverance, problem solving, overcoming frustration and disappointment, as well as finding joy in art. We believe that sewing and quilting are more than skills, but an avenue for personal growth, enjoyment and satisfaction.
The projects created within the classes are donated to various local charitable organizations or placed with the inmates belongings to keep when they are released.
Donations of quality quilt fabric, flannel, and thin batting are always accepted.
