Backpacks Of Hope
Sewing enthusiasts! While watching the news of different disasters (Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Earthquakes) I noticed that the families had very little or nothing… and what they did have they had to carry with them at all times because of unsafe conditions. The children have no toys, no school supplies, no books, and nothing to put their items in. I knew that I do not have a lot of money but I do have a fantastic fabric stash! Any I am more that willing to share this.
Backpacks of Hope are simple backpacks made with only 2 fat quarters of fabric then filled with simple items for children. I would like other sewers to join me in creating these backpacks, and another group will be filling them & another group in the devastated area will be distributing them. Instructions for the backpacks are available from me free of charge (Click Here). Just send the finished backpacks to me and I will have them distributed.
These backpacks are to help meet the immediate need, not a long term one, but to give comfort and joy for a time, and a place to keep what few possessions they may acquire.
I would like to also invite sewers to join me at " Sew In's" to create backpacks…Contact me for more information
I know this is a simple project, but if you are like me, I need to work through this and sewing is what helps. Join with me in this project!
Thanks SEW much!!
